== Description ==
WP Save For Later is the modern, completely free bookmark and reading list solution for WordPress websites, blogs, and membership portals (developed by gooloo.de, created using Google AI Studio). There are no artificial restrictions and no paid "Pro/Commerce" tiers – the plugin is 100% free under the Open Source GPLv2 license.
With one click, users can organize posts into freely created personalized lists, sort them via drag & drop, and access them at any time – completely without page reloads.
Developed according to strict WordPress Core & VIP Coding Standards, optimized for PHP 8.0 to 8.4, and seamlessly compatible with all common page builders (Gutenberg, Elementor, Divi, Bricks, Beaver Builder, and Oxygen).
Core Features Overview:
- Unlimited Storage: Users can create an unlimited number of individual lists (e.g., "Recipe Ideas", "Read Later", "Project 2026") and save an unlimited number of posts.
- 100% Zero-Reload UX: Modern Vanilla JavaScript (Fetch API / ES6+) controls all actions via protected WordPress REST API endpoints – no jQuery ballast!
- Optimized Custom DB Architecture: Special tables with dedicated indexes for maximum scalability, even with millions of bookmarks.
- Intelligent Guest Guidance: Shows unlogged-in visitors a discreet, configurable notice with a direct link to login.
- Paid Memberships Pro (PMP) Integration: Restrict the bookmark function exclusively to specific membership levels.
- Complete Frontend Dashboard: Allow your visitors to manage, rename, delete lists and rearrange saved posts via drag & drop using the shortcode
[save_for_later_dashboard]. - Flexible Placement: Choose between automatic placement above/below the content, below the title, or manual shortcode integration (
[save_for_later]) in the admin dashboard. - Granular Post-Type Control: Activate or deactivate the function for every registered Custom Post Type (CPT) with one click.
- Modern & Accessible Design: Fully responsive with CSS variables for easy theme styling and ARIA attributes for screen readers.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==
= Is the plugin compatible with page builders like Elementor, Divi, or Bricks? =
Yes, 100%! WP Save For Later Pro uses secure hook and filter logic with checks for is_main_query(), in_the_loop(), and builder mode detection (e.g., Elementor Editor Mode) to reliably prevent infinite loops or duplicate outputs.
= Can I use the plugin without Paid Memberships Pro? =
Of course. If Paid Memberships Pro is not installed, the function is available by default to all registered and logged-in users.
= Which database tables are created? =
The plugin creates two high-performance tables with UTF-8mb4 collation and indexing:
wp_sfl_lists– Stores lists per user.wp_sfl_items– Stores linked post IDs with order (menu_order) and date added.
= Is there a limit to the number of saved posts? =
No. The architecture is designed for unlimited lists and posts. Thanks to its own DB tables, the wp_postmeta or wp_usermeta tables do not get bloated.
= Does the plugin require jQuery? =
No! The frontend uses modern Vanilla JavaScript (ES6+ with native Fetch API). This makes your page load noticeably faster and benefits from optimal Core Web Vitals.
= How can I adapt the look to my theme? =
The plugin uses CSS Custom Properties (variables like --sfl-primary, --sfl-border, --sfl-radius). You can easily overwrite these values in your theme's Custom
